SERVPRO of Talladega, Clay & Randolph Counties is Here to Help® with your business' disaster recovery!
When a disaster strikes, it can leave your mind spinning with thoughts. How your friends and family are doing will most likely be the first thing you spend time worrying about, with how well your house fared a close second.
Sorting through all of your thoughts and worries can leave you overwhelmed, and parts of the recovery process—like your insurance claim—might not be something you have considered.
That is why our crew is here for you day or night. We will pick up the pieces and make sure nothing is missed so that your recovery is smooth and easy.
Start Fast, Document OftenWhen it comes to restoration, every disaster is a little different. They do all share one thing in common, though, and that’s timing. The faster you can respond after a flood, fire, storm or any other event, the more you can mitigate your losses. Make sure you are prioritizing your safety, and stay in a safe location until the proper authorities have given an all-clear. Once you can move around, make sure to avoid floodwater, fire-related hot spots or downed power lines.
If the disaster moved through your entire community, check on your neighbors. Make sure any emergent needs are taken care of and that your loved ones are OK. After that, call our SERVPRO® office. We will start your recovery process immediately over the phone and put together a team to head to your property right away.
In the meantime, start taking photos of all the visible damage. The more you can document immediately after a disaster has occurred, the easier your insurance claim process will be. Do your best to wait on our crew before starting any repairs, but if there is something you need to fix right away, make sure you document the before and after.
Leave It to Our TeamWhen our team makes it to your property, we will start by securing your home from potential further damage. As we secure your roof or board up windows, we will also start working through the documentation you created in order to get your insurance claim process underway. Our team is not just trained in disaster-related damage repairs—we are also highly trained in insurance standards and requirements.
As we work, we will put together an itemized list of your losses and take additional photographs of damage that may not have been immediately visible after the disaster. We are certified to meet insurance inspection standards, which means you can trust that the work will only need to be done once. Our staff also makes it a goal to restore rather than replace as many of your belongings as possible so that your recovery costs stay low.
Put your recovery into the hands of our team, and we will get your home back together fast. From tarping your roof to ensuring that your insurance claim process is smooth, we have your whole recovery completely covered.
When a disaster strikes, call us to make your recovery process—insurance claims and all—simple.

Summer Fire Prevention
9/6/2022 (Permalink)
Summer weather means Memorial Day cookouts, Fourth of July fireworks, and all sorts of campfire fun as families across the country take advantage of the warm temperatures to get back in touch with nature.
It’s certainly relaxing to enjoy a beach bonfire with friends and loved ones, or roast marshmallows by the lake or in the backyard fire pit, but it’s also important to ensure that everyone stays safe by observing a few simple fire protection guidelines.
1. Keep a bucket of water handy. If an ember floats out of your fire pit, or a log falls down from your bonfire stack and sets nearby foliage, paper, or other flammable materials aflame, you don’t want to be scrambling for a way to put the fire out. Having a bucket of water nearby is a great first response tool to keep a fire under control.
2. Supervise all fireworks. Sparklers and pinwheels might seem “low risk,” but the reality is that there aren’t any fireworks out there that are safe enough for kids to use without adult supervision.
3. Don’t let barbecue grease build up. Whether you’re using a charcoal or a gas grill, it’s important to keep it clean to prevent accidental grease fires caused by all of the gunk that can accumulate on a grill over time.
4. Inspect the area around your BBQ and campfire. You don’t want to grill or light a campfire anywhere near other flammable materials. This includes deck railings, overhanging branches, dry grass or that pile of dry wood and recycling sitting in the back corner of your yard. If you’re camping, clear out the area immediately around your BBQ or campfire spot to be sure that there’s no scrub or brush nearby that could ignite if a spark lands on it.
5. When you’re done with the fun, put out the flames. While it might seem romantic to fall asleep in front of a campfire, you really should dump water and/or sand on those embers before catching some shut-eye. The same goes for BBQs – close your propane valve and the unit’s lid, as well as any vents on a charcoal grill once you’re done. Unsupervised BBQs can easily tip over in the wind. A breeze can pick up and carry coals and embers from that campfire, dropping them where they can ignite dry grass, branches, trees or deck planks.
6. It’s also important to ensure that no one tries to re-light fireworks that don’t work properly the first time. Dump these in a bucket of water and move on to the next package.
And always remember if you do experience a fire in or near your home or business the professional power of SERVPRO is ready to help assist you with any damage that might occur.

Three Different Ways To Keep Mold Out Of Your Business
8/9/2021 (Permalink)
To make money in business, you must ensure your warehouse and other commercial facilities stay in good shape. If you have mold growth at your job site, your employees may not want to come to work. Moreover, mold can ruin equipment, furnishings, inventory and other items. As such, mold prevention should be important to you. Here are three ways you can keep mold from growing inside your commercial building.
1. Watch for Leaks
Water is important to any business. After all, you have water surging through pipes, feeding toilets and sinks and facilitating everyday operations. When water stays where it is supposed to stay, you probably don’t think much about it. If there is a leak, though, mold can grow quickly. Accordingly, to contain mold, you must watch for signs of water damage. By regularly inspecting plumbing systems, fixtures, gutters, basements and sump pumps, you can decrease your odds of missing the sorts of leaks that allow mold to flourish.
2. Invest in a Hygrometer
Standing water isn’t the only thing that contributes to the growth of mold. On the contrary, high humidity can encourage mold to grow rampantly. As such, if mold prevention is important to you, you must have a way of measuring humidity. With a hygrometer, you know exactly how much moisture is in the air.
3. Prioritize Mold Removal
Because it reproduces with microscopic spores, mold can spread quickly. If you notice mold inside your building, you can assume it has moved to other areas. By contracting with a mold-mitigation service, you can develop a plan for eradicating mold.
As a business owner you understand the importance of keeping your commercial property in tip-top shape. While a variety of things affect the condition of your building, mold can quickly ruin it. By focusing on mold prevention, you ensure you get the most out of your commercial facility.

This is to ensure that the products we use are safe and friendly to the customers we serve. SERVPRO of Talladega, Clay and Randolph Counties regularly uses one of our newer products, SERVPROXIDE, on job sites that have contaminated water or mold. SERVPROXIDE is an EPA-registered, stabilized chlorine dioxide-based disinfectant and sanitizer.
Because many of the jobs we work on involve contaminated water or sewage, we use this cleaner to eliminate harmful bacteria, viruses, and molds. SERVPROXIDE effectively removes any remaining contaminants from hard surfaces and sanitizes soft surfaces. It leaves a faint odor that quickly dissipates with air circulation. This product contains a PH level of 8.5-9.5, which means it carries the EPA's lowest toxicity rating and is safe for everyday use. For the cherry on top, the product is a 100% biodegradable surfactant. Among many of the cleaning agents we use, SERVPROXIDE is one of our “go to" products in a long line of specialty products that SERVPRO offers.

3 Ways You Can Keep Mold from Growing Inside Your Commercial Building

3 Ways You Can Keep Mold from Growing Inside Your Commercial Building
To make money in business, you must ensure your warehouse and other commercial facilities stay in good shape. If you have mold growth at your jobsite, your employees may not want to come to work.
Play It Safe This Fireworks Season!
6/20/2019 (Permalink)
With the 4th of July just around the corner, we are seeing the pop-up fireworks shops all over. They have every type of firework you can imagine ranging from a smaller scale popper to a full-blown sky display for your viewing pleasure. As beautiful as the sky may look lit up with all the colors of these fireworks, it is important that we are making sure we are taking the necessary precautions to keep our loved ones, neighbors, and surrounding homes safe on this holiday.
Fireworks cause nearly 20,000 home fires each year! (NFPA.org)
This why it is safest to leave the firework shows to the professionals, but if you must put on your own show it is important to follow these recommended safety tips provided by Fireworksafety.org to ensure you are keeping yourself and your surroundings as safe as possible.
Recommended Safety Tips:
- Obey all laws regarding the use of fireworks
- Know your fireworks: read the cautionary labels and performance descriptions before igniting
- A responsible adult should always be present to supervise all firework activities. NEVER allow fireworks to get into the hands of children
- Alcohol and fireworks do not mix.
- Wear safety glasses when shooting off your fireworks
- light one firework at a time, and move away quickly
- Use fireworks outside in a clear area, away from all buildings and vehicles
- Never relight a "dud" firework. Wait 20 minutes and then soak it in a bucket of water
- Always have a bucket of water and charged water hose nearby.
- Never carry fireworks in your pocket or shoot them into metal or glass containers
- Do not experiment with homemade fireworks
- Dispose of spent fireworks by wetting them down and place in a metal trashcan away from any building or combustible materials until the next day
- FAA regulations PROHIBIT the possession and transportation of fireworks in your checked baggage or carry-on luggage
- Report illegal explosives, like M-80s and quarter sticks, to the fire or police department
Don't let a firework mishap ruin your Independence Day, be safe when handling any and all fireworks!
Summer Fire Prevention
5/24/2019 (Permalink)
Always here to help!

SERVPRO franchises are independently owned and operated, but we are all still a part of the SERVPRO family. We help each other out, just like a family. If a neighboring franchise has an overload of calls (we call it double occupancy), they can call another SERVPRO to help.
We also help each other out when large events happen. Hurricanes, tornadoes, floods, freezes, and wildfires happen every year. We call these Storm events and multiple franchises outside the affected area will send crews to the area to help. We really are just one really big family and we always come together to help.
We are here for you when you need us, just like we are when another SERVPRO needs us. Call us at 256-378-1319 and let us help you make it "Like it never even happened!"
People helping people!

At SERVPRO, our number one priority is to make our customers happy. It may sound like the impossible task; after all, we are arriving on the scene when circumstances for our customers are devastating. A fire in their home, a busted pipe which has caused water damage in their kitchen, mold in their office building. These are difficult situations emotionally which is all the more reason for our employees to be sensitive to what our customers are dealing with. Many times, depending upon the damage we are mitigating, we could spend days, weeks, or even months in customer’s home or office. We get to know our clients one on one. We get to meet their children. We get to hear about their families. We know their pets’ names. We know where they leave the key in case they are not there. We get to know them by carefully handling all of their cherished possessions, sometimes cleaning them and packing them away until their homes are restored. At the end of the day, we are just people helping people. That’s what it’s all about. Sometimes that means stopping what we are doing and having a cup of coffee or dinner with our customers if they ask. Sometimes it means taking out the family pet. Our salesperson recently captured a beautiful picture of one of our employees enjoying a meal with our customers in their home after she had spent hours helping them recover from a fire loss.
What a beautiful thing to see! Why SERVPRO?? Because we care about our customers...And they know it! Let us be the one you call when your life gets flipped upside down.

Having a good time at the local career fair
Just a few weeks ago we had the pleasure of attending the Career Fair at J. Craig Community Center in Sylacauga that was hosted by our local chamber of commerce and the Talladega Career Center. We had the privilege of meeting hundreds of local students from different schools in the area and teaching them all about SERVPRO and why hard work is important. They all were very excited and interested in what we had to say. It was a lot of fun to see young adults interested and getting to talk about what they want to do in the future with their career paths. We are already looking forward to the next career fair and can't wait to meet more amazing young adults. We wish all of the young adults we had the privilege of meeting well and sends lots of Good Luck wishes their way!
